NBA SEASON TEAM PREVIEW- Atlantic Division

The NBA season is almost upon us and I am going to continue a fans opinionated preview of the NBA teams, with a look at the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference

Eastern Conference

Atlantic Division Preview

Boston Celtics- 1st in Atlantic in 2011-2012

Current Players: Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Brandon Bass, Avery Bradley, Dionte Christmas, Jason Collins, Micah Downs, Jeff Green, Kris Joseph, Robert Kurz, Courtney Lee, Fab Melo, Darko Milicic, Rajon Rondo, Jamar Smith, Jared Sullinger, Jason Terry, Chris Wilcox

Preview: The Celtics will have a different look this year. With the loss of Ray Allen and the consequent changes in the offence because of the loss there will be a different look to the Celtics this year. The Celtics are a old team but they make a run every year. This year the Celtics will have more fire power of the bench with the additions of Jason Terry and Courtney Lee, with also a healthy Jeff Green. This team will revolve around the play of Rajon Rondo and how the floor general leads them on the court. Paul Pierce and KG will have to continue there strong play to keep this team strong and rolling. This Celtics team has the chance to be as good, if not better than the team that took the Heat to 7 last year. They just must stay healthy and they can make another deep run into the playoffs.

New York Knicks- 2nd in Atlantic in 2011-2012

Current players: Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, Oscar Bellifield, Ronnie Brewer, Marcus Camby, Tyson Chandler, Chris Copeland, Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd, Steve Novak, Pablo Prigioni, Iman Shumpert, John Shurna, Henry Sims, Chris Smith, J.R. Smith, Kurt Thomas, Mychel Thompson, Rasheed Wallace, James White

Preview: The New York Knicks, what can i say about them? The definitely have the talent. With the addition of Jason Kidd and Rasheed Wallace they have the experience of players who have been deep into the playoffs. Now all the have to do is learn to play together. Melo and Amar’e have to learn to coexist on the court and play together. The Knicks improved significantly on defence last year with the addition of Tyson Chandler and you can expect much of the same this year. They only issue i really see for the Knicks this year other than the gelling is the guard rotation. Kidd is well passed his prime and Raymond had a down year last year. They will be grateful to get Shumpert back from injury and hope J.R. Smith can have a strong year this season. In the end though the success of this team depends on its 2 stars and how they co-exist together.

Philadelphia 76ERS- 3rd in Atlantic in 2011-2012

Current players: Andrew Bynum, Lavoy Allen, Kwame Brown, Dan Gadzuric, Spencer Hawers, Jrue Holiday, Royal Ivey, Mikki Moore, Arnett Moultrie, Jason Richardson, Devin Searcy, Xavier Silas, Evan Turner, Maalik Wayns, Damien Wilkins, Dorell Wright, Nick Young, Thaddeus Young

Preview: The 76ers are a different team from last year. They have lost there star in Andre Iguodala but have picked up arguably the 2nd best centre in the league in Andrew Bynum. This move will slow down there offence but the front-court significantly improves from last year. I think the loss of Lou Williams will also hurt the offence of this team. They have an assembly of some great young talent and will mostly likely make the playoffs out of the east if Bynum stays healthy. But the health of Bynum is always a big if, they have already lost him for a few weeks in the start of the season and Philadelphia will have to hope he stays healthy over the course of this year to make another run in the playoffs.

Toronto Raptors- 4th in Atlantic in 2011-2012

Current Players: Kyle Lowry, Andrea Bargnani, Demar Derozan, Jonas Valanciunas, Jose Calderon, Linas Kleiza, Amir Johnson, Ed Davis, Terrence Ross, John Lucas III, Quincy Acy, Alan Anderson, Landry Fields, Aaron Gray, Dominic McGuire

Preview: The Raptors are a teams that should be on the rise this year. The made significant strides last year especially on defence when Coach Casey took over the reins. This year the raptors have made some roster upgrades which should help them. They added Kyle Lowry from the Houston Rockets who i believe to be a top 10 point guard in the league. They also added two rookies in Jonas Valanciunas and Terrence Ross who should help them out. Jonas is believed to be a very good centre prospect and has real star potential, who can be an anchor in the middle for the raptors for years to come. The surprise pick of Terrence Ross at #8 in the 2012 draft turned some head, but whoever follows the Raptors knows that this team needed help with shooting from the perimeter last year. Terrence Ross fills the need for a shooter and his shootings skills should complement Derozan’s slashing ability. How much the Raptors will improve depends on the health and play of Andrea Bargnani and Demar Derozan. If Bargnani can stay healthy and continue his strong play from early last year and Derozan can have the breakout year this year when he becomes a restricted free agent the Raptors should have a strong shot at the playoffs.

Brooklyn Nets- 5th in Atlantic in 2011-2012

Current Players- Deron Williams,  Andray Blatche, Keith Bogans, MarShon Brooks, Josh Childress, Stephen Dennis, Reggie Evans, Kris Humphries, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, James Mays, Carleton Scott, Tornike Shengelia, Jerry Stackhouse, Tyshawn Taylor, Mirza Teletovic, Gerald Wallace, C.J. Watson

Preview: Has anybody improved as much as the Brooklyn (formerly known as New Jersey) Nets this year at least on paper? They added some strong pieces over this summer and kept some very important pieces as well. Deron Williams, Gerald Wallace and Brook Lopez resigned with the Nets this summer. They added an all-star in Joe Johnson to the mix. They may not have won on the Howard sweepstakes but he Nets have significantly improved. This year New-Jersey should go from a lottery team to one of the stronger teams in the east if all there players gel together. That is the only problem the Nets will have. The ability of there players to all work together, but a great point guard always helps with that and Deron Williams is currently one of the best in the league. This year from the Nets i expect a run at the Atlantic crown and for them to get into the playoffs.

This ends the preview of all the teams in the NBA for 2012-2013 season. Hope you enjoyed it and if you guys have any tips let me know in the comments so i can try to do a better job next time.
