The NBA season is almost upon us and I am going to continue a fans opinionated preview of the NBA teams, with a look at the Southeast Division in the Eastern Conference

Southeast Division- 2012- 2013

Eastern Conference

Southeast Division Preview

Miami Heat- 1st in Southeast in 2011-2012

Current Players: Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Joel Anthony, Norris Cole, Mike Miller, Shane Battier, Dexter Pittman, Rodney Carney, Mario Chalmers, Robert Doxler, Mickell Gladness, Justin Hamilton, Terrel Harris, Udonis Haslem, James Jones, Garrett Temple, Jarvis Varnado

Preview: The Miami Heat is the team to beat this year. Defending NBA champions of 2011-2012. They have the best player in the league in Lebron James. Both the NBA Season MVP and Final MVP. This year the Heat added some big pieces to the already strong big 3. They added Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen who are both very strong players in their own right. This Miami Heat team looks even better than the team that won the title last year. There is I believe only two weaknesses that can hurt the Heat this year. The first issue is the health of Dwyane Wade and how his body will hold up this year and the 2nd issue they have is the limited front-court depth. Miami is still the team to beat and are the favourites to come out of the East and make it to the finals again.

Atlanta Hawks- 2nd in Southeast in 2011-2012

Current Players: Josh Smith, Al Horford, James Anderson, Keith Benson, Devin Harris, Damion James, John Jenkins, Ivan Johnson, Carldell Johnson, Kyle Korver, Anthony Morrow, Isma’il Muhammad, Zaza Pachulia, Johan Petro, Mike Scott, DeShawn Stevenson, Jeff Teague, Anthony Tolliver, Louis Williams

Preview: The Hawks will look different from last year. They lost their All-Star Joe Johnson, but they have covered up his loss pretty well. The additions of Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow and Louis Williams will definitely sure up the backcourt with Jeff Teague. Louis Willams was the top-scorer for the 76ers last year so that will help there offence off the bench. Both Anthony Morrow and Kyle Korver will definitely help to spread the floor. They are still strong in the forward compartment with the likes of Josh Smith and Al Horford. This team also has financial flexibility going into the future and should be players in the free agent market. This team still has a chance to compete for the playoffs and be almost if not as good as last year. They should make the playoffs.

Orlando Magic- 3rd in Southeast in 2011-2012

Current Players: Arron Afflalo, Gustavo Ayon, Glen Davis, Christian Eyenga, Moe Harkless, Justin Harper, Al Harrington, Armon Johnson, DeQuan Jones, Josh McRoberts, E’Twaun Moore, Jameer Nelson, Andrew Nicholson, Kyle O’Quinn, J.J. Redick, Quentin Richardson, Ish Smith, Hedo Turkoglu, Nikola Vucevic

Preview: The Orlando Magic are a rebuilding team. After the loss of Dwight Howard they lack a superstar and have many veteran role players who are not gonna help there team in the present. In the trade for Howard they gained Harkless and Vucevic who they hope can help them in the future. They also gained a bunch of draft picks which they hope can turn into stars. The Orlando Magic are not expected to compete for awhile and will need to rebuild from the bottom up again.

Washington Wizards- 4th in Southeast in 2011-2012

Current Players: John Wall, Trevor Ariza, Bradley Beal, Trevor Booker, Jordan Crawford, Shelvin Mack, Cartier Martin, Nene, Emeka Okafor, Jannero Pargo, A.J. Price, Kevin Seraphin, Chris Singleton, Jan Vesely, Martell Webster

Preview: The Wizards are a team the should significantly improve from last year. John Wall has another year of experience under him and the addition of Bradley Beal should set up the backcourt for the future. Emeka Okafor and Nene should help the likes of Trevor Booker come along and make this team competitive even now. Jan Vesely is a strong wing and Martell Webster should be a good role player for this team. The Washington Wizards should be competitive this year and have a chance to push for the playoffs, but for this year i see them on the outside looking in for this year. If this team realizes there full potential this team will be a scary sight for the future.

Charlotte Bobcats- 5th in Southeast in 2011-2012

Current Players: Bismack Biyombo, Matt Carroll, DeSagana Diop, Ben Gordon, Brendan Haywood, Gerald Henderson, Corry Higgins, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Byron Mullens, Josh Owens, Ramon Sessions, DaJuan Summers, Jeff Taylor, Tyrus Thomas, Kemba Walker, Reggie Williams

Preview: The Bobcats last year were dreadful. They put up the worst winning percentage in NBA history. They have not significantly improved this year, but Kemba Walker should be better this year with a year of experience under his belt. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist should help out the team but he doesn’t seem to have much star potential either. Ben Gordon should help there scoring and they should have a better offence. The Bobcats will be a better team than last year but they will still be bad and will be in the top 5 in the draft again this year and this should help toward building the team for the future.
